There totally is a point in saying something! Why wouldn't there be? Lots of people link me to wank / troll threads every day, and those get dealt with. The thing is a lot of the trolls post pretty late at night / after I go to sleep, and I can't watch every thread all the time. They don't get dealt with because I don't see them, but if you (or anybody, really!) said something about them, that would actually help!
I'd say there's a difference between saying like, "people who agree with Israel are assholes" and "Jewish people are scum and should die" - it'd depend on what they're saying and how they're saying it, but "depends on what/how" goes for all topics. I'm never going to say that any one topic is blanket okay or not-okay (after all, things like abortion and feminism are also politics, technically), because lots of people take it far beyond politics. It depends on how people are talking about it.
I meant the opposite of that, actually - like, the topic won't be banned but the topic ALSO doesn't get a free pass where anyone can say anything, just for being political, either (like abortion or feminism for example).
